Katharina Nielsen 1986

In 1986, Katharina is a headstrong teenager in Winden, tangled up with Ulrich Nielsen despite her mother's disapproval and a town closing in on itself after a boy goes missing. She is sharp-tongued, loyal, and impatient with being told what to do, already carrying herself like someone who will not be talked out of anything.

Nele Trebs plays her with a flinty, unimpressed directness that cuts through Dark's fog of dread and time-loops with something plainly human: teenage certainty. The show trusts her stubbornness to read as strength rather than naivety, and Trebs makes Katharina's small acts of defiance feel like the seeds of the formidable adult she'll become.
