Julian Baker arrives in Tree Hill as a Hollywood producer chasing the film rights to Lucas's novel, all polish and easy charm. He's confident to the point of cockiness, unbothered by the tight-knit group he's crashing, and instantly, deliberately interested in Brooke Davis — professionally at first, and then not.
Austin Nichols plays him as an outsider who refuses to be intimidated by an established friend group, which gives the show fresh energy just when it needs it. He's smooth without being slick, funny in a dry, unhurried way, and his pursuit of Brooke feels like genuine interest rather than plot mechanics.
Julian Andrew Baker (né Norris) is a film producer who arrived in Tree Hill to create a film adaption of Lucas Scott's first novel, who was unaware of Julian's history with Peyton Sawyer. He eventually revealed an interest in Peyton's best friend, Brooke Davis. When the film's production fell through, he left town for Los Angeles, but Brooke, who had realized and accepted her feelings for him, followed him.
