Jimmy Herstrom

Jimmy is one of the least capable hands in the Yellowstone bunkhouse, a soft-hearted young man who wants desperately to belong among the cowboys who work the Dutton ranch. Eager, accident-prone, and often in over his head, he keeps getting back up after every setback, chasing an acceptance that never seems to come easily.

The show surrounds Jimmy with hard men and makes him the exception, and Jefferson White plays that softness without ever turning it into a joke — his fear reads as real, his hope reads as real. Watching someone this unsuited to a brutal world keep trying anyway gives Yellowstone an emotional foothold its tougher characters can't provide.
