Jet Black

A former ISSP officer turned bounty hunter, Jet Black captains the Bebop and keeps the whole ramshackle operation running. Gruff, practical, and prone to nursing his bonsai and his fishing rod, he's the crew's steadying hand — the one who cooks, negotiates, and grumbles about money while Spike chases trouble.

Ishizuka's low, weathered voice gives Jet a lived-in gravity that anchors the show's melancholy underneath its jazz-cool surface. He's the straight man to Spike's drift, but the writing lets his own quiet disappointments surface sideways — in a story about a stray dog, a bonsai tree, an old partner — never announced, always felt.
