Jana Nielsen

Jana Nielsen is Tronte's wife and Ulrich's mother, a fixture at the edges of the Nielsen household in present-day Winden. She moves through family dinners and small talk with a composed, faintly guarded warmth, the kind of relative who watches more than she speaks and seems to be holding something quietly in reserve.

Dark is built on family trees that loop back on themselves, and Jana sits at a hinge point in that structure without announcing it. Tatja Seibt plays her with a stillness that rewards attention — small hesitations and glances that feel ordinary at first and only later reveal how much history is folded into this unassuming grandmother.
