Jake Sisko

Jake Sisko is a teenager uprooted from Earth to a Cardassian space station he's never wanted to call home. The Captain's son, he'd rather scribble stories than study astrometrics, and his closest friend is a Ferengi boy named Nog — a pairing that scandalizes both their fathers. He's curious, bookish, and stubbornly himself.

DS9 could have made him a generic Starfleet-kid-in-training, but the writers let Jake want something quietly countercultural: to be a writer, not an officer. Cirroc Lofton plays that ordinary ambition with real conviction, and his friendship with Nog becomes the show's clearest argument that its two most alien cultures can actually understand each other.
