Investigator Clausen

Clausen arrives in Winden as an investigator from outside the local police, sent to look into the town's growing tally of disappearances. Precise, unsmiling, and difficult to read, he asks the questions the local officers seem reluctant to ask, and treats the case with a rigor that unsettles everyone around him.

Sylvester Groth plays him with a stillness that feels like withheld information rather than blankness, which suits a show built entirely on withheld information. Clausen never raises his voice or explains himself, and that reticence becomes its own kind of tension — you watch him less to see what he'll do than to guess what he already knows.
