Ines Kahnwald 1953

In 1953 Winden, Ines Kahnwald is a young nurse, unmarried and quietly out of step with the small town's expectations of her. When a disoriented, injured boy appears with no memory of who he is, she takes him in against sensible advice, drawn by a tenderness that looks almost stubborn.

Urzendowsky plays her without a trace of saintliness — Ines's kindness reads as need as much as virtue, a woman filling a silence in her own life by rescuing someone else's. That ambiguity, held so lightly, makes her one of Dark's most quietly aching entry points into its tangle of generations.
