Hideyoshi Nagachika

Hide is Kaneki's cheerful, unshakeable best friend since childhood, the loud contrast to Kaneki's quiet bookishness. Bright, mischievous, and fiercely loyal, he treats their friendship as something unshakable.

Toyonaga plays him with a breezy, almost goofy energy that makes the character feel like sunlight in a very dark show, which is precisely the point. Hide's warmth isn't naive comic relief; it's written with an undercurrent of sharp attentiveness that rewards rewatching, and that tension between how he seems and what he notices is what makes him unforgettable.
