Helge Doppler

Helge Doppler is an old man in Winden, the aging heir to the family that runs the nuclear plant, and he seems barely present in his own life. He shuffles through scenes muttering half-finished thoughts, flinching at questions, and his frailty and evasiveness quickly make him the person everyone quietly suspects when a child goes missing.

Hermann Beyer plays him as a man carrying something too heavy to name, all tremor and averted eyes, so that his confusion reads less like age than like guilt waiting to be understood. Dark builds its puzzle out of exactly that ambiguity, and Beyer makes you watch him instead of just watching for him.
