Tucked away in his cluttered Winden shop, H.G. Tannhaus is the town's clockmaker, an elderly widower absorbed in gears, springs, and gadgets of his own devising. Gentle and courtly, he speaks in unhurried, philosophical riddles about time, loss, and causality, treating his workshop as much a place for thinking as for repair.

Steyer plays him with a quiet, aching warmth that makes his tinkerer's whimsy feel like grief in disguise. The show lets him muse aloud about time as a puzzle rather than a mystery to solve, and that unhurried, almost fable-like cadence gives Dark's tangled plotting an unexpected tenderness whenever he's on screen.
