Gustav Tannhaus

Gustav Tannhaus keeps a clock shop in Winden, an old widower who builds intricate toys and writes a science-fiction manuscript nobody else has read. Gentle and a little melancholy, he seems to exist on the margins of the town's daily life, tinkering quietly with gears and springs while nursing a private grief he rarely mentions aloud.

Axel Werner plays him with such soft-spoken warmth that you don't notice at first how strange his presence is — a craftsman obsessed with clockwork and a manuscript about looping time, tucked into a show already obsessed with both. The performance is patient, almost fable-like, letting the character's sorrow sit quietly under his hobbyist calm until the show reveals how much weight it's carrying.
