Gregg Smith

Gregg Smith is the junior man of the Behavioral Science Unit, tagging along on prison interviews and handling the unglamorous work of transcription and note-taking. Eager, dutifully Christian, and a little out of his depth, he wants to prove himself useful to Holden and Bill without quite understanding what he has signed up for.

Joe Tuttle plays him as the show's nervous system for propriety, a company man whose discomfort with what he's hearing becomes its own quiet commentary on the material. He's often the butt of the joke, but that mild absurdity is the point: someone has to represent the ordinary person's limit.
