Faye Valentine

Faye Valentine wakes with no memory of who she was, only sharp reflexes, a gambler's instincts, and a con artist's total lack of shame. She drifts onto the Bebop as a bounty hunter looking to score fast money, flirting and hustling her way through every room, trusting no one further than she has to.

Hayashibara plays her as pure surface bravado stretched over something unresolved, and the gap between the two is where the character lives. She's funny and mercenary in ways the show never softens, but her rootlessness—literal, given her missing past—gives every joke and every scam a quiet ache underneath.
