Dev

Dev is a thirty-something actor in New York, catching commercial gigs and bit parts while he figures out adulthood in real time. He's curious, food-obsessed, and easily distracted by whatever question is in front of him — where to get the best tacos, whether to have kids, how to text back. Funny, a little aimless, endearingly earnest.

Ansari plays Dev as himself, more or less, and that unguarded quality is the point: the show trusts small, specific observations — about texting, about parents, about ordering pasta — to carry real weight. Dev is rarely the funniest person in a scene, which lets him watch, listen, and let the world's absurdities land on their own.
