Detective Winston Brassel

Winston Brassel is a local detective the Bureau's Behavioral Science Unit crosses paths with in the course of their casework — one of the many small-town lawmen who find themselves suddenly hosting Holden Ford and Bill Tench's unsettling brand of criminal psychology. He is procedural, wary of outsiders, and protective of his jurisdiction.

Mindhunter thrives on these brief, grounded encounters with local law enforcement, and Ryan Dinning gives Brassel the flat, skeptical realism of a working cop who has no patience for academic theorizing about killers he has to actually catch. It's a small role played with exact, unglamorous conviction.
