Detective Stuart Gharty

Stuart Gharty arrives in the homicide unit as damaged goods, a transfer trailing a controversial shooting that has already ended one career path and complicated another. Peter Gerety plays him without a trace of vanity, letting Gharty's shame and dry humor sit side by side so neither cancels the other out. The writing refuses to make him a redemption story on rails; he stays prickly, funny, and uncertain of his own standing, which makes his small moments of competence and connection land harder than triumph would.
