Detective Carver

Detective Carver is local law enforcement, the kind of veteran cop the Behavioral Science Unit has to win over case by case. He is skeptical of the FBI's academic approach to murder, protective of his jurisdiction, and wary of profilers who talk theory while he has worked the streets. He wants results, not psychology.

Mindhunter thrives on friction between old-school policing and new criminology, and Carver embodies that resistance without becoming a cartoon of it. Peter Murnik plays him with a flat, unimpressed authority that forces Holden and Bill to actually earn their credibility, which sharpens every scene he's in.
