Charlie Spring

Charlie is a bright, anxious Year 10 student who's spent the last year being the only openly gay boy in his class, and it hasn't been easy. When a seating chart puts him next to rugby player Nick Nelson, he tries to play it cool while quietly, hopelessly falling for him.

Joe Locke plays Charlie's nervous energy without ever making him pitiable — you see the flinch of a kid who's been hurt learn, in real time, to hope again. The show trusts small gestures, a fidget, a too-quick smile, to carry feeling, and Locke fills every one of them with exact, unforced honesty.
