Carlton Lassiter

Carlton Lassiter is the head detective at the Santa Barbara Police Department, a rigid, by-the-book cop who takes his job, his gun, and his own competence very seriously. He has zero patience for Shawn Spencer's supposed psychic act and considers him an obstruction to real police work — a con man he intends to expose.

Omundson plays Lassiter's fury completely straight, which is exactly why it's funny: a man of genuine competence and pride, constantly humiliated by a fraud he can't disprove. The show lets him be more than a foil, too — beneath the bluster is real dedication to the job, and Omundson finds the sincerity without ever softening the comic bite.
