Burton "Gus" Guster

Gus is Shawn Spencer's oldest friend and reluctant partner, a pharmaceutical sales rep who gets dragged into the fake-psychic detective scheme against his better judgment. He's cautious, fussy about his car and his reputation, and constantly torn between loyalty to Shawn and the nagging sense that this whole plan is a terrible idea.

Dulé Hill plays the straight man with such precise comic rhythm that Gus never feels like just a foil—his exasperation, his pride, his odd bursts of confidence all land as fully formed personality. The friendship with Shawn feels genuine and lived-in from the start, which is what makes their bickering so funny rather than grating.
