Buck Vu

Buck Vu is one of five strangers pulled into Prairie Johnson's orbit at a run-down Michigan school, drawn nightly to hear her impossible story. He is trans, still misgendered at home, guarded and quick with a joke that deflects attention. Skateboarding and keeping his head down are how he survives days that don't see him clearly.

Ian Alexander plays Buck without a trace of after-school-special earnestness — his deadpan humor is armor, not comic relief, and the show trusts him to carry real stakes without ever making his transness the whole of his story. He's funny, wary, and quietly brave, and the performance never overplays any of it.
