Brian Tench

Brian is the young son Bill and Nancy Tench have recently adopted, a quiet boy who barely speaks and keeps his distance from the family trying to welcome him in. He watches more than he participates, unreadable in a household already strained by his father's long absences for work.

The show gives Brian almost no dialogue and dares the audience to fill the silence themselves, which is unnerving in a series obsessed with reading behavior for hidden meaning. Zachary Scott Ross plays him with a stillness that never tips into cliché, making a small boy the most quietly unsettling presence in a show about profilers who can't quite profile their own home.
