Bill Tench

Bill Tench is a veteran FBI agent working out of the Behavioral Science Unit, pulled into interviewing convicted killers alongside the younger, more theory-minded Holden Ford. He is practical, wary of headquarters, and skeptical that talking to murderers will yield anything but trouble. At home, he tries to hold together a marriage and a family life that his work keeps intruding on.

McCallany plays him as the show's ballast — a company man whose calm exterior barely contains his discomfort with what the job requires him to sit and listen to. The writing uses him to measure Holden's drift, and McCallany's stillness, the way dread flickers under procedural competence, makes Tench feel like the most quietly haunted man in the room.
