Bernd Doppler 1986

Bernd Doppler owns and runs the Winden nuclear power plant, the town's main employer and the quiet center of its economy. In 1986 he is the man everyone answers to, brusque and businesslike, more concerned with schedules and reputation than with the unease creeping through the town around him.

Michael Mendl plays him as institutional weight made flesh — a man whose authority comes from ownership rather than charisma, which is exactly right for a show obsessed with the machinery time and power run on. He barely raises his voice, yet every scene reminds you the plant, and the secrets under it, answer to him.
