Alvin Moran

Alvin Moran turns up on the edges of the Bureau's work in Mindhunter's world of interviews and precinct politics, one of the local officials or investigators the agents have to work through and around as they push their new methods on unconvinced institutions. He is practical, guarded, and unimpressed by theory that hasn't yet proven itself.

Hamilton Clancy plays him with the flat, procedural weariness of a man who has seen federal enthusiasm come and go, which is exactly the texture Mindhunter needs in its supporting law enforcement — skepticism as a form of realism rather than obstruction, grounding the show's bigger ideas in ordinary institutional friction.
