Alonzo Gutierrez

Alonzo Gutierrez runs his own auto shop and holds tight to the idea that discipline and hard work are how a man proves himself in America. A widower raising two teenagers, he is strict, proud, and wary of anything that threatens the respectable life he has built — right up until his son's arrest pulls that life apart in public.

Benito Martinez plays Alonzo's rigidity as something earned rather than cruel, a man who has staked his whole identity on self-reliance and now watches the system he trusted turn on his family anyway. The performance is controlled almost to the point of stiffness, which makes the moments his composure cracks land with real force.
