Alicia

Alicia is Denise's wife, a painter settled into a quiet rural life with her. She wants a child, and much of what we see of her is the toll of trying to have one — the appointments, the waiting, the hope she keeps rebuilding. She's tender, private, and increasingly worn by a process that keeps not working.

The show slows way down for her, holding on her face through medical procedures and quiet domestic scenes rather than cutting away, and Naomi Ackie fills that space with restraint rather than melodrama. She lets Alicia's frustration and longing show in small physical shifts — a held breath, a flat voice — which makes the character feel lived-in rather than symbolic.
