In 1921, Agnes Nielsen is a composed, devout woman in Winden who takes in a strange, silent boy and raises him as her own, presenting the arrangement to the town as ordinary while quietly guarding whatever truth lies behind it. She keeps her household orderly and her face unreadable.

Dark thrives on ordinary-seeming people carrying impossible secrets, and Agnes is one of its quietest vessels for that dread. Helena Pieske plays her with a stillness that reads as piety until you notice how carefully she's controlling every word—making Agnes feel like the calm surface over something the show hasn't shown you yet.
