Abel Johnson

Abel Johnson is Prairie's adoptive father, a quiet, careful man trying to hold his family together after his daughter returns from seven years missing—changed, sighted again, and full of secrets she won't yet explain. He watches her with a mixture of love and worry, unwilling to push too hard.

Scott Wilson plays him with a stillness that never reads as passive; you can see him choosing patience over panic in every scene. The show could easily have made the worried parent a nag or an obstacle, but Wilson gives Abel a tenderness that feels earned, a man who loves his daughter more than he needs to understand her.
