A.S.A. Ed Danvers

Ed Danvers is the Assistant State's Attorney the Baltimore homicide squad has to convince before any arrest becomes a conviction. Fastidious and exacting, he picks apart evidence with a lawyer's cold rigor, unmoved by a detective's certainty if the case won't hold up in court. He wants proof, not instinct.

Željko Ivanek plays him with a coiled, buttoned-down precision that makes bureaucratic friction genuinely tense — every objection sounds like a personal challenge to the detectives' competence. The show uses him to puncture the swagger of police work with the plain fact that a good story isn't the same as a provable one, and Ivanek's clipped delivery makes that friction crackle.
