Lawless Lawyer
A former gangster-turned-lawyer with a perfect win rate fights corrupt power brokers using both his fists and legal cunning. It's a revenge thriller wrapped in courtroom drama, heavy on action and style, lighter on subtlety. For anyone who loves a protagonist who bends rules to break villains.

Itaewon Class2020
Same star, same appetite for brutal revenge against the untouchable elite. A former prisoner tears through the system with style and violence. If you loved Lawless Lawyer's swagger, this doubles down on it.
But The tone swings wildly between melodrama and action thriller, and it doesn't always land both. Some pacing issues in the middle stretch.

Vincenzo2021
A mafia lawyer returns to Korea and uses his criminal expertise within the legal system. Sharp, stylish, deeply satisfying when plans come together. Same energy of watching a clever man outmaneuver the corrupt.
But It's longer and more baroque than Lawless Lawyer, with subplots that occasionally overwhelm the main thread. Not as lean.

My Mister2018
A quieter Korean drama about quiet people surviving quiet corruption. It's the emotional truth underneath the kind of world Lawless Lawyer inhabits. Beautifully acted and genuinely moving.
But No fight scenes, no courtroom victories, barely a score. Entirely character-driven and melancholic. Requires patience and stillness.

L.U.C.A.: The Beginning2021
Same actress, but deployed in an entirely opposite mode—exploring vulnerability and mystery rather than competence and control.
A man with amnesia and superhuman abilities confronts his past while helping a woman seek justice. It's a revenge thriller that folds in sci-fi mystery—unexpected tones that somehow work. Seo Ye Ji (from Lawless Lawyer) in a completely different register: vulnerable and scared instead of cool and lethal.
But The sci-fi elements feel grafted on and occasionally contradict the grounded revenge plot. Takes a few episodes to find its rhythm.

Taxi Driver2021
A vigilante taxi driver hunts predators through the justice system's cracks. Morally complicated, visually sharp, darkly funny. Same premise: decent man, corrupt world, his own code.
But Deeply upsetting in places—it doesn't flinch from depicting abuse. The tone is noir and grim, not triumphant.

Voice2017
A profiler and a former cop hunt a serial killer with intimate knowledge of their investigation. Tense procedural with real chemistry between leads and cases that haunt you.
But Less style than Lawless Lawyer, more slog. Sometimes the mystery solving feels mechanical rather than clever.

Kill It2019
A contract killer and a prosecutor circle each other in a game of cat-and-mouse. Lean, well-paced, good twist on the dual-protagonist structure. Keeps momentum throughout.
But Shorter series with less character development. Feels more like a genre exercise than a full meal.

The Duel2016
A woman discovers her life is a lie and fights back against the powerful people who built it. Tight, twisted, satisfying payoff. Keeps you guessing.
But The premise requires heavy suspension of disbelief, and it doesn't always earn it convincingly.

The Empress of China2014
Both are about individuals dismantling rigged systems through brains and nerve, but one does it with fists in modern Korea, the other with court intrigue in ancient China.
A woman claws her way from nothing to absolute power in the imperial court, using intelligence and manipulation instead of martial arts. It's a revenge narrative told at epic scale with elaborate production. Same engine—underdog vs. corruption—but in a completely different era and register.
But Subtitled, 80 episodes long, and steeped in Chinese palace politics. Requires patience and attention. No one punches anyone.

Assassination Classroom2015
The spiritual predecessor: same moral structure (righteous people using any means necessary against entrenched evil), but with historical weight and no romance subplot to lighten the load.
Korean independence fighters plan to kill a Japanese colonial official during the occupation. A tense, brutal action thriller with moral complications and stunning set pieces. It's Lawless Lawyer's historical ancestor—the same story of people with nothing fighting power, but with real stakes and real blood.
But It's a film, not a series, so the pacing is compressed and the character work less generous. The violence is unflinching and sometimes feels gratuitous. Heavy subject matter.
