Statham plays a man who's walked away from whatever he used to be, until a storm washes a child into his exile and drags his old life in after her. Shelter is lean, hard-edged action filmmaking — mostly quiet, then suddenly not — built around the idea that protecting someone costs you everything you were hiding from. Good for people who want their action star to look tired as well as dangerous.

But It's a hand-drawn kids' film with zero bloodshed, about as far from Shelter's register as you can get.

But Formal, unhurried, black-and-white pacing that will feel glacial if you're expecting Statham-speed action.
