Masti
Masti is a 2004 Hindi comedy-crime film about three married men whose attempts to cheat backfire spectacularly when they become targets for blackmail. It's a brash, energetic romp that doesn't take itself seriously for a moment—broad humour, slapstick, and outrageous situations collide in a nearly three-hour sprint. For anyone who enjoys Bollywood ensemble comedies with zero pretence and maximum chaos.
If you liked this
Rang De Basanti2006
A vibrant ensemble comedy-drama with the same chaotic energy and multiple intertwined storylines. Funny without sacrificing stakes, and showcases talented actors playing off each other brilliantly.
But Tonally shifts from comedy to something weightier halfway through, which might feel jarring if you're purely after laughs.

Khosla Ka Ghosla!2006
A smart, wickedly funny ensemble piece about three friends navigating complications of their own making. Tighter plotting than Masti but the same delight in watching smart people outsmart themselves.
But More understated and character-driven; lacks the over-the-top slapstick energy if that's what you're after.

Dil Chahta Hai2001
Three friends and their romantic entanglements, wrapped in charm and humour. Gorgeously shot, effortlessly funny, and the chemistry between leads is exactly what makes ensemble comedies sing.
But Significantly more stylish and romantic; if you want loud, crude humour you might find it too refined.

The wildcard
Something you would not have found on your own.
Andaz Apna Apna1994
Both are male-friendship comedies structured around schemes that backfire catastrophically. Andaz Apna Apna is the template; Masti is the evolution. Same frequency, different decade.
A decade earlier, this film perfected the template Masti would later use—two lovable rogues, escalating schemes, slapstick humour, and the absolute willingness to be stupid. Sharukh and Aamir's chemistry is electric.
But Pre-2000 Bollywood sound design and pacing; if you're accustomed to the rhythm of 2000s Hindi cinema it feels loose and occasionally draggy.

Pyaar Mein Twist2005
Similar premise of men plotting romantic schemes that spiral entertainingly. Fast-paced, silly, and unapologetic about its own ridiculousness—exactly the same frequency as Masti.
But Equally thin on plot logic; if narrative coherence matters to you, this won't help.

Partner2007
Another Akshay Kumar vehicle built on male friendship and comic miscalculation. A feature-length premise stretched to comedy-length, with enough gags and energy to coast.
But Repetitive in stretches and the comedy wears thinner than it should over its runtime.

Awara Paagal Deewana2002
A ensemble comedy crime-caper with multiple plotlines colliding. Chaotic in the best way, with a cast clearly having enormous fun hamming it up together.
But Structurally incoherent; the plot doesn't so much resolve as simply stop.

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania2014
A more recent take on similar territory: fun, lightweight, designed for pure entertainment. If you liked the frothy energy of Masti, this updates it competently.
But Smoother and more polished, which means less of the raw, unfiltered chaos that gives Masti its personality.

It's Entertainment2014
Akshay Kumar and friends on a ship, getting into increasingly ridiculous situations. Comedy-action-caper in the same vein: plot is barely an afterthought.
But Later-career Akshay, and the humour skews broader and occasionally meaner; lands awkwardly more often than not.

Chase2010
Three men, complications, criminals, and escalating chaos. Hits many of the same beats in a different arrangement and deserves a watch if you've exhausted the obvious ones.
But Less known because it's genuinely less polished; rougher around the edges in ways that don't always work.

The Sting1973
Both centre on elaborate schemes of deception and revenge, with the pleasure coming from watching smart people execute a plan. Masti is chaos; The Sting is clockwork. Same engine, wildly different results.
Two con men orchestrating an elaborate revenge scheme with split-second timing and a team of specialists. Witty, beautifully constructed, endlessly rewatchable—the genre ur-text that Masti's blackmail plot loosely echoes.
But Completely different era, tone, and style. If you're watching Masti for Bollywood flavour, a 1970s American crime-caper might feel like watching a different language.

Housefull2010
Both are brash, unapologetic Bollywood comedies from the mid-2000s built entirely on male bonding and escalating absurdity. Same filmmaker sensibility, slightly different execution. The real wildcard here is watching how the genre shifted.
An Akshay Kumar vehicle that's essentially structured as controlled madness—multiple characters, mistaken identities, physical comedy, and a plot that barely holds together. Pure, unironic fun without apology.
But Not actually a wildcard so much as a lateral move; if you've seen one Akshay Kumar ensemble comedy from this era, you've roughly seen the shape of them all.
