Baaghi 2

Baaghi 2 is a high-octane action thriller where a tough former soldier investigates the disappearance of his ex-lover's daughter, tumbling into crime syndicates and buried secrets. It's built for audience members who want explosive set pieces, hand-to-hand combat, and a hero who solves problems with his fists. Expect style over substance, but delivered with considerable energy and earnestness.

Commando - A One Man Army2013

Another Tiger Shroff vehicle that leans harder into the lone-soldier-against-impossible-odds premise. Tighter action sequences and a clearer through-line make it satisfying in ways Baaghi 2 sometimes struggles to be.

But It's essentially the same film—if you've seen one Tiger Shroff rescue mission, you've seen the bones of them all.

Rosemary's Baby1968

Ajay Devgn leads an espionage thriller with real political intrigue and procedural detail underneath the action. Manoj Bajpayee co-stars; the film takes its plot seriously in ways that elevate the genre work.

But Slower and less interested in hand-to-hand spectacle than Baaghi 2; the action is tactical rather than acrobatic.

Naam Shabana2017

Taapsee Pannu as a spy infiltrating criminal networks; same espionage-thriller DNA as Baaghi 2 but with smarter writing and a protagonist who uses her brain as much as her fists.

But Considerably less flashy action—this one prioritizes plot and character over pure visceral spectacle.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation2015

Both are missing-person investigations that explode into labyrinthine crime networks, but Rogue abstracts the action into digital space, forcing the story to solve problems through intelligence rather than just physical prowess.

Prabhudheva's film about a cyber-criminal and an ex-intelligence officer playing cat-and-mouse in a digital space. Same rescue-and-investigation engine, but filtered through a completely different formal and technological lens—sleeker, more conceptually ambitious.

But Relies heavily on digital effects and a sci-fi sensibility that can feel overwrought; the emotional core is thinner.

Dhoom2004

The definitive Bollywood action-thriller template: slick production, elaborate heists, motorcycle chases, and a cop-versus-criminal dynamic that actually crackles. Influenced everything that came after.

But Made nearly 15 years before Baaghi 2; the action choreography feels dated if you're accustomed to modern stunt work.

Dhoom poster

Singham2011

Ajay Devgn as an unstoppable cop taking down corruption; massive action set pieces with real wit in the dialogue. Delivers crowd-pleaser energy with genuine craft behind it.

But The hero is invincible to a degree that strains credibility even by action-movie standards.

Article 152019

Ayushmann Khurrana in a crime thriller that moves beyond spectacle into social commentary. Manoj Bajpayee again—his ability to anchor serious material elevates everything around him.

But This is a police procedural that cares about outcomes and meaning; it's not built for the rush Baaghi 2 chases.

The Delta Force1986

John Abraham as a corrupt cop; raw, brutal action in service of a genuinely dark story. Doesn't soften itself for comfort—morally messier than most Bollywood action films.

But The tone is relentlessly grim and the hero is not sympathetic; no charisma to carry you through.

Raid2018

Ajay Devgn and Saurav Shukla in a stripped-down action film about a tax raid gone sideways. Real stakes, clever writing, and action that feels earned rather than decorative.

But Shot on a modest budget; the spectacle is smaller and the scope is intimate, which some will find limiting.

Aankhen2002

A heist thriller with Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar that prioritizes the puzzle over the action. Clever, tightly plotted, and genuinely suspenseful—proof that Bollywood thrillers can think.

But Almost no action in the modern sense; it's cerebral and patient, which makes it feel from another era entirely.

Aankhen poster

Jai Bhim2021

A lone man's obsessive investigation into institutional corruption, but inverted—he's fighting the system rather than navigating criminal underworld, and the stakes are existential rather than personal.

Suriya in a crime thriller about a husband investigating his wife's detention by corrupt police. It has the procedural determination of Baaghi 2's hero, but the investigation uncovers systemic injustice rather than just a kidnapping ring—it's angrier and more purposeful.

But Tamil-language film with subtitles; takes its social message seriously and won't detour for spectacle. The hero solves problems through law and documentation, not combat.

Jai Bhim poster

Mardaani2014

An investigator pursuing criminals through a sprawling network, but the film itself is uninterested in thrills—it's a piece of social accusation, which makes it morally weightier and far less comfortable.

Rani Mukerji as a tough police officer hunting traffickers. Same vigilante-cop-versus-crime-syndicate structure as Baaghi 2, but filtered through a woman's fury and a real social cause that haunts every frame. Genuinely unsettling.

But Subject matter (human trafficking of children) is dark and stays dark; this isn't built for escapism or entertainment.
