Zookeeper Monkey

A background figure in Futurama's menagerie of the future, the Zookeeper Monkey is exactly what the title promises: a monkey employed to tend a zoo, treated by the world of the show as an entirely unremarkable piece of the labor force. He appears, does zookeeper things, and the joke is that nobody questions it.

Futurama's gift is throwing away premises other shows would build whole episodes around, and a monkey with a zookeeper job is a perfect throwaway. Maurice LaMarche, one of the great utility voices in animation, gives it just enough gruff professionalism to sell the absurdity completely straight.
