Ziggy Chapman

Ziggy is Jane Chapman's young son, newly enrolled at Otter Bay Elementary alongside his mother, who has just moved to Monterey to start over. He's quiet, watchful, and gentle-seeming — until a classmate accuses him of hurting her on the first day of school, a charge he flatly denies.

The whole plot pivots on whether a small boy is telling the truth, and Iain Armitage plays him with an unnerving stillness that never tips into precocious cuteness or obvious guilt. He gives adults — and viewers — nothing certain to hold onto, which is exactly the point.
