Zeek Braverman

Zeek Braverman is the Braverman family patriarch, a Berkeley contractor and Vietnam vet who built a big, messy, loving clan and still can't stop steering it. He's opinionated, sentimental, and convinced he knows best about his four grown children's marriages, careers, and kids — and he says so, loudly, at every family dinner.

Craig T. Nelson plays him as a man whose bluster is really love that hasn't learned subtlety, and the show trusts that contradiction instead of resolving it. He can be maddening and then, in the same scene, undo you with a small gesture of tenderness toward Camille or a grandkid — proof that gruffness and devotion can share one face.
