Yutaka "Peco" Hoshino

Peco struts into every match like he already knows the score. A table tennis prodigy since childhood, he calls himself a hero, disdains practice, and treats his gift as proof he's untouchable. His best friend Smile plays alongside him, but Peco is the one who talks, postures, and expects the world to keep bending to his talent.

Yuasa's rubbery, kinetic animation turns Peco's swagger into something almost balletic, all flailing limbs and cocky flourishes, while Katayama's voice work keeps finding the anxious kid underneath the bluster. The show is patient about letting his certainty crack, and that slow puncturing of ego is what makes him so much more than a hotshot archetype.
