Youngster

A minor, recurring background figure in Futurama's crowd scenes, the Youngster shows up wherever there's something to complain about — a tourist attraction, an old person's habit, anything unglamorous. Whiny and impatient, this kid voices the exact bratty skepticism an adult audience recognizes instantly, usually to be swiftly corrected or ignored by the grown-ups around.

The joke is entirely in the delivery: Tress MacNeille pitches the voice with a nasal, put-upon whine that makes even a throwaway line land as comedy. Futurama uses the Youngster as a release valve, letting the show mock its own sentimentality or nostalgia through a kid too young to understand why anyone would care. It's a small part, but it's precisely calibrated.
