Young Uhtred

A Saxon boy of noble blood, son of the Ealdorman of Bebbanburg, Uhtred is thrust into war when the Danes invade Northumbria. Watching his father march off to battle, he is fierce, stubborn and untested, clinging to his birthright even as the world that guarantees it begins to collapse around him.

Finn Elliot gives the boy a wary, watchful intensity rather than simple innocence, so his eventual capture and adoption into Danish life feels earned rather than sentimental. The show uses him to plant every idea the adult Uhtred will spend seasons wrestling with — home, faith, loyalty — before he's old enough to understand any of them.
