Young Luke

Young Luke is one of the Crain family's twins, a wide-eyed, dreamy boy who moves into Hill House with his parents and siblings while renovations drag on. Gentle and imaginative, he's quick to see things others dismiss as childish fancy, and he clings especially close to his twin sister Nell as the house's strangeness starts to press in.

Julian Hilliard plays childhood fear without cheapness — his fright is never performed for effect, it just lives in his face. The writing trusts him to carry real dread as a small boy, and he does, making Luke's sensitivity feel like vulnerability rather than a plot device, which is what makes the house's danger land emotionally instead of just visually.
