Young Adora Crellin

Glimpsed in flashback, young Adora is a girl inside the grand, airless Crellin house, forever at the bedside of a mother who is often unwell. She's dutiful and watchful, performing small rituals of care with a precision that feels older than her years, already learning what love and attention are supposed to look like in that house.

Annie Fitzgerald plays her with an eerie, practiced calm rather than childish warmth, letting the audience feel that something in this girl's affection has already been trained into performance. The flashbacks work because they never explain themselves outright — they just let you watch a child absorb a lesson she shouldn't be learning.
