Yor Forger / Ibarahime

Yor works an unassuming government clerk job by day, dresses primly, and worries constantly about being seen as odd or unmarriageable at twenty-seven. She agrees to a sudden marriage of convenience, awkward and eager to please, presenting herself as gentle and ordinary even as she moves with startling, unexplained grace whenever danger appears.

Saori Hayami plays the gap between Yor's fluttery social panic and her lethal calm as one continuous person rather than a joke stitched onto a killer. The comedy of a woman terrified of small talk who can also silently break a man's neck lands because Hayami never winks at it — she plays both halves completely straight.
