Character
Worms
Worms in Futurama (1999), played by Phil LaMarr.
Worms is one of the many small, strange faces that pass through Futurama's crowded universe of aliens, robots, and bureaucrats — a minor presence glimpsed rather than dwelt on, existing mostly to fill out the show's dense, joke-a-second background rather than to carry its own plot.
Phil LaMarr's gift is elasticity — he can drop into a one-line role and give it a distinct voice and comic shape without ever breaking the show's rhythm. Characters like Worms work because Futurama trusts its margins as much as its leads, and LaMarr fills them with real, if brief, personality.
Worms are a mutualistic species of sapient worms acquired via ingestion (eating food infected with them). Once inside of a host, they begin to improve all of the infected organism's bodily and mental abilities, most likely for the same reason that any sapient race would advance technology, to enhance lifestyle.
