Winry Rockbell

Winry is a young automail mechanic in Resembool, childhood friend to the Elric brothers and the one who built Edward's mechanical arm and leg. She's blunt, wrench-wielding, and fiercely practical, mixing genuine tenderness for her patients with a temper that flares when Ed treats his own body carelessly.

She's the show's counterweight to alchemy's grand tragedies: someone who fixes what war and hubris break, literally, screw by screw. Takamoto plays her warmth and exasperation as two sides of the same coin, and the writing trusts her competence and grief equally, never reducing her to just the boys' worried friend.
