He's quick-witted, street-smart, and thoroughly unimpressed by his aunt and uncle's mansion, their butler, or his cousin Carlton's buttoned-up preppiness. He wants respect on his own terms, and he's not shy about saying so.

Will Smith plays a version of himself so charming it barely feels like acting, turning fish-out-of-water culture clash into effortless comedy. The show gives him room to be both the joke-cracking outsider and the moral center, and Smith's timing — that grin, that side-eye at rich-people absurdity — makes the character instantly, durably likable.
