Wayne Lyon

Wayne sells cars in North Dakota, and mostly he sells himself short. He's soft-spoken, easily overshadowed by his formidable mother and quietly devoted to his wife Dot and their son. He wants an ordinary, peaceful life and seems mildly baffled whenever the world refuses to give him one.

Rysdahl plays gentleness as an actual character trait rather than a punchline, so Wayne's niceness reads as strength being underestimated by everyone around him, including the show. Against Fargo's usual parade of schemers and killers, his plain decency becomes its own quiet, funny, oddly moving position to hold.
