Walter Oakes

Walter Oakes runs the Pit, Hillman College's campus hangout, slinging food and wisdom in roughly equal measure. Older than his classmates and a Vietnam veteran, he's returned to school with a maturity the undergrads around him haven't earned yet. He teases, he lectures, he keeps the counter and the conversation moving.

Sinbad plays him as a grown man who has actually lived, dropped into a campus comedy full of kids still finding themselves — and that gap is the joke and the heart of it at once. His timing is loose and confident, but underneath the jokes sits real perspective, the kind that makes Walter the person everyone eventually goes to when the laughing stops.
