Virgil Maravich

Virgil is Carrie Mathison's off-the-books eyes and ears — the surveillance man who sets up the illegal cameras and mics in Brody's house and mans the van outside. Loyal to Carrie from way back, he's the one voice of caution, forever pointing out how much trouble this all is.

David Marciano plays him as the tired, competent friend who knows exactly how bad an idea this is and helps anyway, which makes him the show's conscience without ever becoming a lecture. He's dry, practical, faintly exasperated — the ballast that keeps Carrie's obsessive brilliance from floating off entirely.
